WHAT CHANGED

Season 4’s August 18 Top Gun wave remains the major content drop; September’s Tidal Strike and 1.4.2.5 notes are the current live-service follow-up.

Battlefield 6 Season 4’s Top Gun update launched August 18, 2026 with Wake Island, Carrier Strike, Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, two aircraft, the Interdictor sniper rifle, a Fort Lyndon point of interest, and new Portal capabilities. EA’s September 2 Tidal Strike community update then outlined the next Season 4 follow-up work, and Update 1.4.2.5 was scheduled for September 1.

Wake Island is not merely a visual return. EA describes carrier-based headquarters, a greater naval emphasis, and large-scale combat across land, air, and sea. Carrier Strike and Fighter Sweep should not be collapsed into one search answer because they have different rules and access boundaries.

EA previously said Carrier Strike and Fighter Sweep were extended through the entirety of Season 4. The limited-time Top Gun reward layer is covered separately in the Top Gun event guide.

Tidal Strike and Update 1.4.2.5

EA’s September 2 Tidal Strike community update focuses on live-service follow-up rather than a second map drop:

  • Tsuru Reef Breakthrough balance changes aimed at giving Attackers more room to advance, including objective and chokepoint reworks, extra flanking and boat routes, and spawn/vehicle tweaks.
  • Continued investigation of Carrier Strike spawn-camping feedback.
  • A planned two-week one-year anniversary event toward the end of September, with challenges and rewards earned during normal playlist play.
  • Additional combat, vehicle, REDSEC, Labs, and Portal notes in the same post.

Separately, Game Update 1.4.2.5 was scheduled for September 1, 2026 as a quality-of-life and reliability patch after 1.4.2.0. EA’s notes highlight Carrier Strike laser designation fixes on the new jets, helicopter minigun damage against soldiers in water, Portal Custom Lobby Start-tile reliability, Fighter Sweep squad-size correction, and assorted UI/stability fixes.
