Peace Walker is the collection's only online game, supports up to six players, and has no crossplay; older official mode pages provide context, not a current lobby guarantee.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 does not support crossplay. Peace Walker is the collection's only online game, and Konami confirms an overall maximum of six online players. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions also have local wireless multiplayer for Peace Walker. No online play is listed for MGS4; Konami says online play is available only for Peace Walker.

What the six-player maximum does not prove
The collection's “up to six” line is not a six-player co-op promise. Older official Peace Walker pages described Co-Ops as a two-to-four-player activity and Versus Ops as supporting as many as six players. Those pages explain why the historical mode limits differed, but the current collection announcements checked here do not republish a mode-by-mode table.
Treat 2–4 Co-Ops and six-player Versus Ops as historical official context until Konami's current collection manual or support material confirms the same split. The current sources also do not document invitation flow, platform subscription requirements, matchmaking population, or network quality.
Choose the same platform ecosystem as the people you expect to play with. The lack of crossplay means a PS5 player should not expect to join a Steam, Xbox, or Nintendo lobby.
