Both players need access to trading, only one trade can be active, and the in-app detailed trade list decides which cards can be offered.

Pokémon TCG Pocket trading works only between friends, and trading unlocks 14 days after each player starts the game. An account can have only one active trade. If a friend, card, or button is unavailable, the checks below separate an account restriction from a temporary service suspension.

Check both accounts before choosing a card

1. Add the other player as a friend.
2. Confirm that both players are at least 14 days past their individual start dates. A newer friend's account can appear in the friend list before trading has unlocked for that player.
3. Make sure there is no trade already in progress. To trade with someone else, complete or cancel the current trade first.
4. Ask the receiving player to check Menu → Other → Settings → Trade → Suspend Trade Offers. Suspending incoming offers does not stop that player from sending an offer, so the setting can be easy to miss.
5. Open Social Hub → Trade and select the friend only after those account checks pass.

Once a trade has started, neither the selected partner nor the card placed in the trade can be changed. Cancel the trade and start again if the wrong card was selected. Pokémon Support says canceling restores the card, items, and consumed trade stamina; if stamina was already full, the restored amount can sit above the usual cap.

Check whether the card is eligible

Open Social Hub → Trade → ? → Detailed trade list. That in-app list is the current source for which cards are tradable. A card appearing in a collection or on a friend's wishlist does not make it eligible.

When accepting an offer, the selection screen shows only cards that qualify for that specific trade. Pokémon Support lists three matching rules:

• Both cards must have the same rarity.
• If the offered card has flair, the return card must also have flair.
• If the offered card has a gold frame, the return card must also have a gold frame.

To send a particular language or flair, select the card, tap Edit Card, choose the version, then tap Set and OK. If the needed version still does not appear, return to the detailed trade list instead of assuming that every owned copy can be traded.

The Shinedust cost varies by rarity. Check Social Hub → Trade → ? → About trade rules and review the amount displayed before completing the trade. A fixed cost table can become stale when the eligible pool or rules change.

Disabled friend, card, or trade button

Use the point of failure to narrow the cause:

• You cannot offer a trade to a friend: confirm the friendship, the 14-day unlock for both players, the one-active-trade limit, and the recipient's Suspend Trade Offers setting.
• The friend is selectable but the card is missing: check the detailed trade list, then match rarity, flair, and gold-frame status. A wishlist is only a request, not an eligibility check.
• The final trade button is gray: Pokémon Support says trading may be temporarily suspended when too many players are using it. Wait and try again later.

An active trade resumes when the service becomes available again. If it expires during the suspension, it will not complete, and the committed cards, items, and trade stamina return to their original state.

Confirm that the trade completed

Open Social Hub → Trade → History to view the 30 most recent trades from the last 90 days. This is the clearest place to confirm which partner and exchange completed.
