GAME INTRODUCTION
What to know before you play
Security 51 is a single-player checkpoint simulator set inside Area 51. You inspect staff, compare their papers with facility rules and decide who may enter or leave through the elevator. It released on August 12, 2026 for Windows and macOS. Steam showed a US price of $9.99 when checked August 31.

What the inspection loop includes
Early checks cover names, positions, clearance levels, time and whether the number of people entering and leaving matches the protocol. More accurate identity tests become available as the game progresses; the official description specifically names blood testing.
A suspicious employee can be quarantined, but a mistake can also lock up an innocent person. Some consequences appear immediately and others surface several shifts later. The store describes infection, escaped threats and wider containment operations, which is why an apparently correct document is not always the end of an inspection.
Endless Mode and difficulty settings
Endless Mode runs unlimited shifts until either sanity or hunger is fully depleted. It is the current survival-style option for players who want to continue inspections without the campaign's fixed ending structure.
Difficulty is selected only when starting a new game:
- Easy removes the shift timer.
- Medium matches the previous standard difficulty and keeps the normal shift timer.
- Hard gives less time and applies harsher penalties.
Existing save files remain on Medium and cannot be switched through this selector. Start a new game to choose Easy, Medium, or Hard. The publisher also recommends a new game for the complete set of new update features and changes, but that recommendation is not an instruction to delete an existing campaign.
Persistent upgrades and new inspection clues
Tool upgrades are now connected to the player profile, so they persist across repeat playthroughs. That persistence is separate from difficulty: an existing campaign remains Medium, while a new campaign asks for a difficulty choice.
The update also adds a fingerprint scanner on the third floor for identity checks and subtle anomalies. Mysterious notes can appear on the desk at the start of each day with mechanical, choice, or story hints; each note disappears after it is read. New mushroom-cultist characters carry an overarching story and additional hints.
Other official changes include a sound and small sanity reward for perfectly aligned hole punches, plus rebalanced food items intended to make hunger management smoother. The announcement does not publish exact food values or the sanity bonus amount, so this overview does not invent them.

How endings connect to the inspection loop
The Isolation Ward is not detached side content. A developer explanation confirms that successful experiments unlock City Operations, green solution progress must exceed the red problem bar, and the solution with the highest percentage affects the story and ending. After Day 30, the Shift Map lets you revisit an earlier crisis and build a different dominant solution.
The Security 51 endings guide now separates the good-outcome route, collapse route and World Saved: 1 requirement. It uses official achievements and current route evidence rather than inferring endings from Steam tags. Older demo rules and pre-release dates are not presented as current facts unless the release build confirms them.
